Katie Silva, Center Director
Katie holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and brings over 10 years of field experience to our FSA Oakley Center. In addition to working with preschool, high school and adult transitional students as a Special Needs Assistant for the Department of Education, Katie served as a Teacher Director for Head Start.
Head Start is a program of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.
Katie is passionate about making a difference in children’s young lives and her love of children as well as her desire to be a part of their learning experience has inspired her personal ECE philosophy. Katie celebrates childrens’ innocent outlook on life, sharing, “Every child needs to feel safe, important and have a sense of belonging. I want children to feel all those things while at my center. I am also a strong believer that children learn through play and hands-on experience. I love seeing little faces light up when they learn something new or do something for the first time. I, also, really enjoy how excited children get when they see you in the morning…it makes coming to work every day worth it!”
Katie and her family reside in Oakley and enjoy riding bikes and exploring new parks. She is also an amazing “cake decorator” who shares her talents by creating fun cake art with her own kids.
FSA is constantly on the look out for candidates that have a passion for early education and a love of children. FSA accepts resumes from candidates year round. Current positions at FSA are at the listed below link.
